Reminder: Ring 41 Meeting, Feb 22, 2017 7:00pm
How are you coming with your plans to show something related to our February theme, Dai Vernon, a.k.a. “The Professor?”
What was once in his mind that is now in yours?
Besides presenting Vernon-rooted magic, I hope you will share a story or some factoid about Vernon.
Don’t know any?
In that case, take advantage of the incredible resource available exclusively to IBM members, namely Ask Alexander.
Ask Alexander is an electronic archive containing all copies of The Linking Ring dating back to its first issued published in 1922. This valuable resource contains over two-million pages searchable by key words, including names of individuals, magic effects, and dates.
According to Ask Alexander, Dai Vernon is mentioned in over 1000 different issues of The Linking Ring. Surely you can find a little Vernon tidbit to share with us.
Don’t know how to access Ask Alexander? Follow these steps.
- Go to the IBM Website: www.magician.org
- Close the email newsletter screen
- Click on “My Account” I the upper right-hand corner
- Login using your IBM number and personal password. If problems exist, click on the “Forgot Login” button
- Once you click the “Submit” button, you will be taken to the “My Account” home page. Notice the Dashboard on the right-hand side.
- Click on the second Dashboard button: Access the Archives at Ask Alexander
- This takes you to the Ask Alexander search page. In this example, we’ve added the search term “Dai Vernon.”
Clicking on the green icon will take you to the 1000+ issues of The Linking Ring that will yield Vernon information.
