Our March Theme! Fairs & Festivals. Time to get ready for those upcoming gigs.
Perhaps you’ll do strolling magic on the fair or festival grounds, interacting with individuals or small groups. Maybe you’ll do a Kozmo-type act that attracts a larger crowd while you’ll do 12 minutes before passing the hat. Possibly you’ll do a stage act of 20-45 minutes that draws an even larger crowd. You may work for tips, a contracted fee or both.
Show us what you might do in any fair or festival situation. Alternatively, share a past experience or a tip to help us get ready for the season.
Nothing comes to mind? No worries. You can participate in one of our other meeting segments as we follow this new Ring agenda. Note: there are five Wednesdays in March; we will meet as always on the last Wednesday, March 29th in this case.
- Brief Announcements, e.g., welcome of new members and guests, upcoming magic events, and operating financial balance.
- Performance of Theme Magic. Performers sign up to perform before Ring meeting starts. The Program Chairman introduces the first performer. Once the first performer finishes, that individual introduces the second performer and this MC sequence follows until all volunteers have performed. This is our evening “mini-show” without interruptions.
- Performance of Non-Theme Magic. This is the open mic opportunity for anyone who wants to perform, but their performance is not theme related.
- Break (10 minutes to inspect the plumbing)
- Raffle (contributions welcome, Lane and Miner are getting tapped out)
- Work-in-Progress Performances – magic presented by anyone who is working on an effect and seeks feedback and suggestions for improvement
- Open Discussion – additional comments whether germane to tonight’s meeting or not
